Online Couples Therapy and Individual Therapy for Men in Oregon

Douglas Counseling offers online therapy in addition to meeting in-person. While the majority of our clients are in the greater Portland area, we see clients throughout Washington County, Clackamas County, Multnomah County and other areas of Oregon.

What is Online Therapy or Counseling?

Online therapy, also known as virtual therapy, distance counseling, or teletherapy, allows clients to meet with their therapist from the comfort of their own home or any other setting where they feel comfortable. Virtual therapy has become more popular in the last few years and for good reason. Clients have found that attending online sessions allows for more convenience, flexibility with scheduling, and saves them valuable time.

Many clients prefer virtual therapy for the following reasons:

Convenience – you can attend appointments from the comfort of your home or office. Many clients enjoy the ease of virtual sessions that fit into their schedule more easily than traditional in-person appointments.

Accessibility – clients who live too far away to attend in-person appointments are now able to take advantage of therapy by attending virtual appointments. You are not limited to working with a therapist in your local area and have more choices with virtual therapy.

Saves Time – with no commute to the therapy office you save valuable time. Clients often schedule therapy during their lunch break and maximize their work productivity.

Flexibility in Scheduling – couples are able to meet virtually for therapy even if they are in different locations. Clients can more easily fit their therapy session into their day without the time or hassle of commuting.

Childcare – clients often report scheduling traditional therapy sessions is challenging as they need to find childcare for each meeting. Clients with children can attend virtual sessions without the need to find childcare.

Douglas Counseling typically works with clients near the Portland metro area. However, if you live too far away to drive to the office, virtual appointments are a great option. Reach out today to schedule your FREE consultation. Please call (503) 388-6611 or contact us online here.

How Does Individual and Couples Online Therapy Work?

You can attend Online Therapy from anywhere you have an internet connection. Appointments can be done using your computer, tablet or smart phone.

Your therapist will send you a secure link before the start of your online therapy appointment. At the time of the appointment, you simply follow the link and your therapist will be ready to start the appointment.

Online Therapy appointments are very much the same to in-person appointments except you are not physically sitting in the same room as your therapist. You can expect your therapist to interact with you much the same way they would if you were meeting face-to-face.

Who is Eligible for Online Therapy?

Online therapy or virtual appointments are available to anyone who lives in the state of Oregon.

Who is A Good Fit for Online Therapy?

Often clients who live long distances from our Lake Oswego office prefer online therapy as it saves them valuable travel time and is much more convenient. Couples who have young children and find it difficult to secure child care are also good fits for online couples therapy as they don’t have to set up child care. Couples who have difficulty getting their schedules to match up to be in the office at the same time can take part in online therapy even from different locations.

Is Online Therapy as Effective as Meeting for In-Person Sessions?

This is often a decision each client must make for themselves. For many clients, online therapy is just as effective and allows a large amount of flexibility and convenience. In recent years we have become more accustomed to taking virtual meetings and many people now prefer this method.
